About IRD
After many years in the irrigation construction, sales, and design fields, Bill Rogers formed Irrigation Research & Design in 1993. His goal was to improve the irrigation design industry while doing what he enjoyed most. We design new sites as well as design improvements for existing sites. Over the years we have expanded our services to meet the needs of our clients and the changing industry. We are experienced in water use reduction by designing with reclaimed water when possible and specifying products that maximize water use efficiency. We are LEED trained and USGBC members.
We've done it all. We have worked for commercial and residential developers, golf courses, hospitals, airports, historical sites, universities, sports complexes, botanical gardens, etc. We've handled the watering needs for every type of material you can imagine; from watering the most delicate flowers to using irrigation to cool artificial turf, we have the experience to tackle your most complex issues.

Bill spent many years as a Systems Design Manager prior to entering the irrigation world. He brought his understanding of technology along with him as he teamed up with his brother and entered the irrigation business as a contractor in he late 80's. After working in the construction industry Bill spent years working in product sales, product development, and irrigation system design. In 1993 he decided that design was the future of the industry and pursued his goals by starting IRD. He now works on many projects requiring reclaimed water and advanced pumping system design. Bill is a Certified Irrigation Designer and a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor with the Irrigation Association.

Kris has been with IRD since early 1999. Kris joined IRD part-time while studying at Virginia Commonwealth University and began learning CAD and irrigation design. Since 2002 Kris has been a full-time designer. She focuses on construction document production. She also handles all administrative issues for IRD.
